Our History

Let me share with you the story of Solano's, a family-owned western clothing business that has been operating since 1956. It all started in Raton, New Mexico, when Andy Solano opened a small boot repair shop. Fabie, his wife, soon joined him, and they started selling a few styles of boots and shoes.

Their son Ralph returned to Raton a few years later and dedicated himself to the family business. He expanded the range of goods, adding to the selection of boots his mother started selling, and created a unique atmosphere that makes Solano's stand out from the rest.

Over the years, the business thrived with the help of family members and gained regional and national recognition as an authentic western store. Solano's carries one-of-a-kind merchandise, including tall top boots, 5-inch brim hats, old west style clothing, and more.

In 2003, Ralph's son Drey created a website, enabling people worldwide to access Solano's quality western wear. Today, the family business is still thriving, with Fabie and Andy as owners and operators, their daughter Sandy in charge of managerial operations, and Drey and granddaughters Valerie and Tiffany contributing to the company's success. Long-time employees Sandi and Marianne also play vital roles.

When you visit Solano's, don't miss their "hat cemetery," a collection of over 300 authentic cowboy hats, the largest of its kind globally. Solano's offers old-fashioned western service that's hard to find these days. Boots are their business, hats are their specialty, and they have everything else you need in between!
